TABLO – from table to blackboard
20.Jan.2026
At PLANET, we sometimes shift our focus and deliberately immerse ourselves in furniture design. TABLO is one such project: not a classic architectural project, but a piece of furniture that arose from our approach to space, use, and flexibility.
In a world where space and living space are becoming increasingly precious, TABLO responds with versatile usage options while maintaining high standards of craftsmanship, durability, and aesthetics. In 2023, the project was awarded the Handwerk & Form | Werkraum Bregenzerwald prize.
TABLO combines the function of a table with that of a tablet – two functions that have evolved from a reduced form. The idea refers to the common origin of both terms: tabula – board, writing tablet, table: places of gathering, exchange, and thought.
This flexibility is made possible by a patented plug-in and twist connection that makes the table legs interchangeable or removable in no time at all. TABLO can thus be quickly transformed from a free-standing table to a wall-mounted blackboard – or stored away to save space. The reinterpretation of the plug-in connection builds on traditional craftsmanship and develops it further in a contemporary way.
With its minimalist design and precise craftsmanship, TABLO is suitable for everyday use in small apartments, as additional furniture on demand, or as flexible furnishings for cafés, bars, schools, and event spaces that want to redesign their rooms easily, quickly, and aesthetically.
